Using the ADL LRS Conformance Test Suite

Over the holidays, I needed to verify a cmi5 Launch Model LMS / LRS combination and decided to spin up an instance of the open-source ADL LRS Conformance Test Suite (https://github.com/adlnet/lrs-conformance-test-suite). I have used cmi5 Catapult (https://github.com/adlnet/CATAPULT) in the...

    Mapping IEEE 1484.20.3 JSON-LD to 1EdTech, CTDL-ASN, CaSS

I ended up iterating in TLA Toolbox on a CTDL-ASN export format to exercise portability to CASS https://cassproject.org/ .. and now TLA Toolbox authors to IEEE 1484.20.3-2022 (IEEE SCD) but that seems to have more data than CTDL-ASN for rubric information based on my current understanding.

Bridging Competency Definitions and Evidence: Introducing the Rubric Assertion Profile (RAP)

I've been working with IEEE Shareable Competency Definitions (SCDs) and xAPI for evidence-based competency assertion, and I keep hitting the same challenge: there's a gap between the definition of a competency (especially one with a rubric) and the operational rules for asserting that someone...

Tools to build learning assets and custom xAPI on back end that don't lock you in to a platform?

With Grok or Chat GPT it possible to ask/prompt for a HTML/Javascript course navigation shell which is cmi5 compliant and direct it to have a robust xAPI library and use a XML or JSON for the navigation loading "frames" of content and ask it to produce a portfolio of frame templates (multiple...

    Evolution of eLearning Standards

In the corporate world, the “basic three” analytics—not taken, in progress, and completed/passed—are often the minimum standard for tracking. Off-the-shelf tools that can generate xAPI data still depend on an LMS paired with a Learning Record Store (LRS). One of the reasons cmi5 was created was...

Crew Resource Management concepts with xAPI and TLA

    Evolution of eLearning Standards

Oh, the 80s! Neon leg warmers, big hair, and… clunky CRT monitors paired with Pioneer laserdisc players churning out Computer-Based Training (CBT). Those were the days when e-learning was born. The military led the charge, using CBT to train soldiers with cutting-edge (for the time) tech...
