Hi everyone,
I'm developing a new web-based training tool at https://handsignaltraining.com/ and would love your input before we go further with the build.
The concept is a webcam-based interactive trainer for standard hand signals used in crane, equipment, and vehicle operations. The trainer uses pose detection to score your signals in real time, right in the browser — no video is ever sent to any server.
Planned modules include:
- ASME B30.5 Crane Hand Signals (core — OSHA 29 CFR 1926.1419 qualified signal person)
- Forklift / Warehouse Spotting Signals
- Aircraft Marshalling Signals (ICAO standard)
- Ground Guide / Military Vehicle Signals
- Certified Significant Other Trailer Maneuvering (proprietary standard — disputes resolved by whoever is driving)
- Certificate of completion for each module
A few specific things I'd like feedback on:
1. **Signal coverage** — Are there signals or scenarios you feel are missing or underrepresented in standard training?
2. **Webcam-based assessment** — Would your organization accept a self-paced webcam-scored assessment as part of a signal person qualification record, or would you need a proctored component?
3. **Format** — Individual purchase, site license for contractors, or LMS/SCORM integration — what fits your context best?
4. **Accessibility** — We're planning a non-webcam quiz-only path for users who can't use a camera. Any other accessibility considerations we should plan for?
5. **Aircraft marshalling** — Is this a training gap you've encountered? Who in your organization would need this?
6. **Trailer maneuvering** — Has this been a source of conflict in your household? Would certification help?
All feedback welcome — critical input is especially appreciated at this stage.
