1EdTech CASE 1.0 (final release 7 July 2017) defines a machine-readable way to publish and exchange competency or academic-standard frameworks, with stable identifiers other systems can align content, assessments, and credentials to. 1EdTech describes 1.1 as a minor upgrade, but implementers will notice it. The API base path moves to /ims/case/v1p1, and that change is required for 1.1 certification. Associations can now point to frameworks that are not CASE, with a targetType hint, and a new isTranslationOf association type is added. Statements, notes, and descriptions may carry Markdown and LaTeX. Items and documents also gain an extensions field, where 1.0 banned proprietary elements outright. New optional fields include a framework type (course codes for now), the CASE version, and per-item subjects. Use the 1.1 document for new work and keep the 1.0 link for existing integrations.
